The above is an absolute exquisite creation.  The color, my favorite. But are you more of a conventional bride, and desire a more bridal shade of white?  No problem.  Nova McLaren can do whatever you want.  That’s the beauty of going this route for your gown.  You can have whatever you want!  Like the bodice of one gown, and the skirt of another?  Nova McLaren will make it work.

Would you like to see some of her other creations?  They are beauties, I guarantee – take a gander, and in the words of the designer:

Below are…”Pieces I did for Christian Siriano’s Spring Summer 2017 collection at New York Fashion Week in September”

This black number says “Old World Hollywood” to me.  I would so love to wear a gown such as this. The elegance, the colors, they’re are my idea of glamour.

And what about this gorgeous white ensemble?  I love how the white fabric drapes.  Your wedding could have this gracefulness as well.

Of all the gowns, this could possibly be my favorite.  I love the sheerness of the lower skirt.  It flows so dramatically across the model’s legs.

Next time, I have a question and answer interview with the talented Olivia Humphreys of Nova McLaren.

New Wedding Dress Designer!

Here it is! The exciting opportunity to have a wedding dress made just for you.  And while not inexpensive, the price won’t break the bank!  The following words are those of the artist/designer.  I love the way she writes and speaks.  You can feel her enthusiasm.  Enjoy…

“Dressed in her wedding gown, the bride is her superhero self; beautiful, confident and glowing with happiness!

Weddings are something personal and unique to you and your relationship – so what better way to celebrate than a dress fitted to you, one created with you specifically in mind? My clients’ ideas and aspirations for their dress are my inspiration. Vintage dresses, couture collections, draping and textile details spark my imagination.

What I love about my job is how much fun can be had on the creative journey
of making wedding dresses for clients who become friends.

The beauty in the way I work is that I take the time to get to know my clients – finding out your style and personality and giving you the opportunity to express this and feel beautiful, elegant and most importantly, yourself, on your wedding day!

I can blend your ideas, (for example: style icons you admire and wish to emulate in some way, or a new and unique idea you wish to bring to life), with my interpretations and design talent to create a dress that is personal and unique.

Between 6-12 months before your wedding date is an ideal amount of time for me to create your dress – although we can start sooner if you wish. Less than six months is possible also wth some extra fine planning.

My clients usually have some ideas of what they like and have been busy pinning by the time we meet – but if you have no idea, that’s fine – I have many! I have an assortment of images on my Pinterest page if you need some inspiration! I like to meet you for an initial consultation where we discuss ideas, I put forward some sketches and fabric ideas and I take your measurements. From then we can narrow down fabric selection and the design, or I do additional research to find the perfect ideas for you.

Pattern Making and toiling comes next! I make a paper pattern to your exact measurements and create a toile (prototype) of the chosen design. From here we can establish what looks and fits best, how the fabric drapes and feels. If we get to a conclusive point here, I order the fabric and begin making. There will be two or three more fittings as the dress develops to ensure fit and design.”

Would You Consider A Bespoke Wedding Dress?

Would you consider a ” bespoke wedding dress “?  And what exactly do I mean by “Bespoke”?

According to Wikipedia,

Bespoke is an adjective for anything commissioned to a particular specification. It may be altered or tailored to the customs, tastes, or usage of an individual purchaser.[1]

Sounds expensive, doesn’t it?  But actually…not so.  I had the opportunity to speak to the most lovely lady from the UK Saturday morning.  She is starting her own custom wedding dress design company.  It wasn’t a conversation by chance, we planned the business call.  But it was enjoyable, and thought provoking. And no, it is not the company above.  I am going to be receiving a press release from her soon, and I will share it with you.  Yes, I know I’m being a bit of a tease, but it’s worth the wait.

I had been under the impression, as I bet you have been, that a custom dress was just out of my price range.  That is not the case.  And think of the possibilities!  If you’ve been dress shopping recently, as a bride, a mother of the bride, sister or friend of the bride, you know the dress choice often comes down to a compromise.  It may be cost, it may be design, but ultimately, something has to give.  That’s where a bespoke wedding dress designer can be your best friend.  She will help you choose your favorite fabric, color, design and make it fit your figure perfectly.

Rock My Wedding

The above photos show some of the stages a designer goes through to create the perfect wedding dress.

When daughter # 2, my first daughter to marry, purchased her wedding dress, I was shocked at the mandatory fee attached for alterations – $ 700.00.  This fee was whether only a simple hem was required , or a total make over of the dress.  Unacceptable.  We had our own seamstress  do the simple alterations for a fraction of the price – to great results.  But with my new designing friend, all alterations are included in the price of the dress.

Think a dress like this is out of your price range…well perhaps…  🙂  But your own custom gown is not. I can’t wait to share this phenomenal find with you.  Stay tuned!
